Kafue National Park
If you are seeking a safari experience that takes you into untouched wilderness and further off the beaten track than most safaris can offer then the beautiful and truly diverse Kafue National Park is the place for you to visit. The Park comprises of 22,400 sq kms making it Zambia’s largest National Park. The North has vast open plains and wetlands teeming with wildlife and unique wildlife viewing opportunities. The Middle and Southern section of the park has wonderful riverine forest environments with small channels and islands to explore. With over 150 species of mammals and 470 species of bird to see you will be constantly in awe. The Southern and Mid sections have far fewer lodges than the North as these areas have only in the last ten years really started to be explored and protected. This makes it a very special experience as you never see other vehicles or people out on game viewing activities. If you are looking for river activities, excellent birding, fishing in a pristine wilderness, Kaingu lodge is defiantly a place to visit. During my stay in Zambia I was part of building this wonderful camp and having travelled the rest of Zambia’s beautiful areas, I always come back to the conclusion that Kaingu's position, luxury chalets and superb staff make it the ultimate destination for anyone wanting to experience the real Africa in its untouched beauty from the comfort and safety of a luxury lodge. In the North of the park the lodges are mostly closed during the Wet season (generally October to the end of March) due to floods engulfing the plains and making the area inaccessible. This of course has helped in the preservation of this wilderness making it almost impossible for man to access for half the year. The diversity and large population of game in the North makes it one of Africa’s finest game viewing destinations. I travelled to the North section of the park two years ago and saw big cats almost daily along with Wild dogs on my last day! It was a wonderful experience and unlike anything else on offer in Zambia. Kafue truly offers something for everyone seeking true wilderness. We can arrange both vehicle transfers from our base camp in Lusaka or air transfers. I have selected several lodges in the Kafue that I have personally visited and where I know the staff and owners . I can describe every detail of each lodge and if there are any questions you have regarding the accommodation and service I will be able to answer them and I know that any safaris I arrange will have very happy and safely guided clients.
