South Luangwa National Park I stayed in this Park working for a friend of mine for two months. Within the first three days I had seen Leopard, Lion, Elephant, Giraffe, Hippo , Crocodile and was even lucky enough to witness a successful Leopard Hunt. The guides in South Luangwa are some of the most competent and knowledgeable in Africa; some of the guides can read the bush noises so well they can predict what’s about to happen and make sure you are in a prime viewing position - this is how we positioned correctly and saw the Leopard hunt in fact. The park has been a favourite for both tourists and Zambians hoping to see big game since it was established in 1972. Here you will find a lodge to suit every budget and expectation. All of the lodges I have selected offer beautiful accommodation, fantastic cuisine and great hospitality. Due to the development of this park there is a system in place to virtually guarantee that everyone will see big cats. When a vehicle spots a big Cat or something of interest they radio other vehicles with the location. This system works really well and has a sighting vehicle limit of 4 to ensure the animals are not disturbed. For a truly wild trip one can travel from South Luangwa to Luambe National park to the North East. The drive is an experience on its own. You pass through dried up river beds, open plains and an area with hot springs that make vegetation lush and draw herds of Buffalo to bathe in the mineral rich wallows. Luambe National Park is very small and just has one lodge. This makes the experience very personal. Here you will find diversity unlike anywhere else I’ve seen in Zambia. There are a few species that are only found in that area and on the plains you may even see Serval cats jumping to catch prey. I took a trip to this park several years ago and was completely amazed by the diversity and landscape changes on the journey up to it.
I have selected several lodges in the South Luangwa area. I have stayed at all of these lodges and know the Managers or Owners. Each lodge offers something different and special. I would be more than happy to discuss exactly what you are looking for and am confident I can match you with the right lodge from my selected lodges.
